Witches at the walls

Recovering from the battle against the Space Marines, we found a suitable structure to use as a strongpoint for repairs and resupply. The Mechanicus Infernus had to toil several nights and sacrifice many native inhabitants to bind a new power source for the wrecked Defiler. Imperial forces on the planet are not yet fully aware of our allegance and so have not focused on attacking us.

However, today we narrowly escaped being discovered by the Sisters of Battle themselves. An Inquisitor Lord apparently detected the daemonic energies present within Lucius the Eternal (may he gloriously reign!) and attacked our fortress while the bulk of our forces were out on patrol. One unit of the witches managed to get within the walls and in sight of Lucius himself (blessed be his glorious might!) as an Immolator bathed the ramparts in fire. Fortunately, our elite Terminator squad was in conference with Lucius when the walls were breached and they managed, just, to intercept and eliminate the trespassers. Praise must also be given to our Obliterator cult who held the north wall against an assault by the Lord Inquisitor herself.

The witches who fled will no doubt return to this location in force. We must, therefore, relocate to a new secure location. Returning patrols have spotted the ruins of a large city nearby. We can find ample shelter in its shattered remains. Xenos activity has been reported in the area. Lucius, in his infinite wisdom, will dispatch a recon team to get a measure of the terrain before we move in and claim it. Champions from all units are now fighting in the arena to decide who will get the honor of this mission.
